Kenworth Truck Company has enhanced its component packaging for the T270 and T370 (Class 6 and 7 respectively) hybrid diesel-electric models. All hybrid components are now in one battery box underneath the cab for easier access, maintenance, and assembly.
Moving the starter batteries, chassis load center, cooling package, and inverter into a battery box under the back of cab on the driver’s side, the Eaton diesel-electric hybrid power system is centralized in one location. Kenworth also offers an optional 9-foot high power cable set which allows body builders and customizers to relocate the power system to maximize frame rail space as needed.
A new inverter has also been added to the componentry to facilitate utility customers who require enhanced power distribution and easier access to fuses and cable pass-throughs. A power distribution module can be used to make adding after-market options such as lifts easier as well.
These Kenworth hybrid tractors, available at GCWs up to 55,000 lbs, are popular in local haul, utility, and other work truck applications.
