Isuzu Commercial Truck of America has announced that 20% biodiesel blend (B20) will be supported in all of their diesel truck engines starting with model year 2011 engines. This includes the popular N-series models and the new Reach. This makes Isuzu the first U.S. market manufacturer to approve B20 in all models.
Isuzu credits both the U.S. and Japanese joint efforts to test B20 in their engines as well as the adoption of standards like ASTM D7467 for biodiesel blends. These have allowed the company to upfit their engines to meet the needs of a growing market of biodiesel users.
While more than 60% of the U.S. market heavy equipment manufacturers approve B20 in some models, Isuzu is the first to do so across the board.
