EcoForward is the new name behind ultra-efficient transport refrigeration units and generators from Carrier Transicold. These units are in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency emissions requirements for 2013. Carrier says that their reefer units with this new tech are 20% more fuel efficient than current models.
Carrier says that the new units are also quieter and have better performance as well. The units use a common 2.2-liter diesel engine already well-established in the Carrier line. These engines have been fitted with smarter sensors, better electronic control modules, and operate with less engine power under normal loads. Over a full range of operating conditions, Carrier says, the EcoForward systems are using 5 to 20% less fuel.
In addition, additional and improved emissions reduction systems comply with California Air Resources Board (CARB) ultra-low emissions standards.
Carrier will begin selling the EcoForward line at the end of the year and will be in full production swing in 2013.
